I n the twentieth anniversary of the death of the writer and painter Luke Maria Padula (1915 - 1987), the Regional Council of Basilicata, the Provincial Administration and the Provincial Gallery Matera, have organized from June 28 to July 28 next , a retrospective exhibition entitled "the light of Lucania."

A new appointment with Nights of Poetry cassanesi which from 13 to 15 July 2007 will animate the town's historic center Murgia. This year, the fifth, took even more years of the other national (and international) with the participation of poets such as Anna Maria Farabbi and Daniel Giancane but also Iraq's Adnan Al Sayegh ; Al Sayegh, in particular, artist leading dissidents of the former regime of Saddam Hussein but also of the current socio-political situation of his country, is for the first time in Italy where his poems were never translated. "Nights of Poetry", however, has not forgotten its roots and celebrates an important Apulian artistic achievement: the 25 years of the magazine "The Vallisa" in Bari, one of the most important Italian literary texts, directed by poet Daniel Bari Giancana. For all three evenings there will be at the Festival, a veritable "The Space Vallisa" where poets Giannelli, Santoliquido, Wet, Fuiano, Pietrafesa, Daddiego, Mezzina but also writers and intellectuals in these years worked with the magazine, will debate and discuss on this quarter-century poetry and Italian culture. The new poetry Luke - that is finding more and more space thanks to the Net thanks - will instead be represented by poets Maria Pina Ciancio and Mary Luigia Iannotti , ideatrici e animatrici del blog letterario www.lucaniart.it . Spazio, come sempre, ai grandi del passato: Dante (il VI canto del Purgatorio, la "invettiva all'Italia" sarà letto e spiegato dal prof. Claudio Crapis), Pablo Neruda, Shakespeare, Emily Dickinson. E poi la poesia dialettale barese con Vito Bellomo , le poetesse Franca Desiderato e Rosalba Fantastico ; il cassanese Gianni De Pinto ; il duo dei poeti-musicisti Vincenzo Mastropirro e Antonino Maddonni ; i vincitori del concorso di poesia di Sammichele 2006, Anna Valentini, Carmen De Mola, Gianfranca Angiulli, Pier Giorgio Taneburgo. last grains for the first time one of the most famous Italian folk groups "Uaragniaun" Altamura (Ba) transform their rich repertoire in many poems, read by Maria Moramarco, founder and voice of the group.
"Nights of Poetry" is an initiative organized by the Pro Loco "The Murgianella" Cassano , in collaboration with the Association "The Deans of the Book - Presidio of Cassano delle Murge", "Verri Fund" and the support of the Regional and Provincial Culture, the City of Cassano, the National Union of Pro Loco of Italy (Puglia UNPLI) - as well as numerous private sponsors.
