In these days of controversy and landings, the mayor of Lampedusa, Dino De Rubeis is truly alone, alone with his fellow citizens which deals with the emergence from years of being extreme border of Europe and easy victims of the hypocrisy of an Italy that leads to self-destructive practice of indiscriminate reception on the shoulders of others.
In support of the mayor, now under investigation for a non-existent "inciting racial hatred," Mr. Roberto Fiore of Forza Nuova, in Strasbourg, MEP, met him, along with a delegation from Lampedusa, making the case.
"De Rubeis accuse of racism is a paradox - says - in a situation where he is instead shown a remarkable patience, introduced legislation, the fruit of common sense who knows the situation well, only when he realized that to defend public safety that he alone was administered.
"His indictment suggests that - he continued - in the opinion of the judges, the mayor was to raise the white flag and give the events their fellow citizens, making them the ombudsman of the thousands of immigrants, so very different from what the media would have us believe, can only be perceived, especially in such a small island and tourism, as an objective threat.
